Hello guys sorry if this has been asked, this is my scenario, I have a remote Windows box eg. \\192.168.0.16 with my movies \\192.168.0.16\movies and series \\192.168.0.16\tvseries shares as this used to be my primary storage box. now I am running sabnzbd and sickbeard / couchpotato etc..
I would like to auto mount my windows shares on my freenas box on startup, as this mounts fine normally and is accessible but hence the issue of automount at startup, i have tried to exit the fstab with rw but no luck can someone please please help me out as i have been struggling immensely I have tried the irc but also no luck, I have tried a script no luck anything to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated... thanks guys...

I'm very confused why you would want to do this? So you are going to leave data on the windowze box? Please list hardware specs and plans.. http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Init/Shutdown_Scripts or cron job should achieve what you want..

If you are looking to move the data - much easier ways!

I understand but currently I only have that storage available on my winblowz box which at the current time was my primary media server

Can you please recommend a script or please post an example command, I know its besides the point having alternate storage as to freenas but at the moment i am stuck and it is the only way possible for me.

Thanks you very mych so far

Specs :
The windows box has 4x 2tb and the drives are pretty full, this is on an i5 6gb ram.
The Freenas box has 4x 500gb zfs on hp microserver 6gb n54l ram and is currently only doing downloads.

Later on I plan on upping the ram on the I5 and migrating the data but first need to buy 5x 4TB one will be hotspare.
so actually i just need to map the drives for the time being to run my sickbeard and couchpotato database, although i know this is not the primary focus of freenas
but would at least help me get the get my things going, I had been using freenas for a while now only that mounting the shares manually on freenas is not what I want

so any help / advice will be great.

Yatti - mounting NTFS/FAT drives LOCALLY on a FreeNAS box is definitely a terrible idea, but in his case he's looking to create a network mount (where the Windows host box will still control the actual file system) so there should be no issue.

OP - Not sure why you need to give FreeNAS shared access to other file systems, but I'm guessing it's probably to be used inside a jail. In that case, just setup the CIFS client and config files in each jail that needs access.

J.P. Did you figure out a solution? I'm trying to do the same or similar thing. I want to auto-mount a directory on my synology box that contains my media files on my freenas box which runs plex.
