I'm adding another mirrored pair of drives to my encrypted pool without a passphrase. I've re-read the manual, and it seems to only mention that extending an encrypted volume will reset the passphrase and recovery key, so you should recreate both before rebooting.

Since I'm not using a passphrase and all the drives in the pool are still using the same key (I redownloaded to confirm), do I need to force it to re-key and then download a new key and recovery key to be safe? Without a passphrase does the recovery key do anything for me?

Thanks.

I gave up researching and to be safe decided to go ahead with the same rekey procedure as replacing a drive. That was easier than risking any data.

"Encryption Rekey", (skip passphrase) then "Download Key", then "Add Recovery Key"
