Reinstall PLEX

Hi. When PLEX announced a possible breach this morning I followed the procedure to change pw, but of course the server became unreachable after. So I thought I should do a fresh reinstall and deinstalled the plugin. Reinstalling gives me a lot of different error messages about IP, MAC-adress etc and shuts down. I assume that has to do with that the old iocage is still there. It seems to be mostly a bunch of different versions residing there. Should I delete it?

PS. Should I maybe switch over to developer builds and upgrade to TrueNas 13 before reinstalling a new PLEX? Does it give me any advantages on the matter?

Your assumption is incorrect; as you show, the jail is gone (it would be in a dataset under jails if it were still there).

TN13 isn't a "developer build"; it's an actual release that it seems the iX crew don't really know how to classify yet. The download page says it's ready for production use, but folks in this forum are saying it isn't ready for "general use." But one big point in its favor is that it isn't built on an EOL version of FreeBSD, so it's possible you'd be able to install the plugin there.

But your real bottom like is going to be, don't use plugins. As @Kris Moore says, they will only cause you pain. iX' advice is that if you really want to use what they now call apps, you should strongly consider migrating to SCALE.

So: Keep the iocage as is and switch over to scale? That's the general opinion?

I think that would be iX' recommendation. Jails are likely to continue to work just fine for some time, but plan that you'd be installing your software there yourself, not using a plugin.

Thanks. Testing TrueNas13 and scripted installation. Sounds optimal for now. Will do a hw refresh in a not so far future anyway.

Got hit by this this morning;
I was able to salvage my install by going to http://<plex-ip>:32400/manage and redoing the claim process. It has to be the IP and not whatever DNS name or else it just redirects to the broken library.

Same. I had to go to the manage page (using IP address) to get to the server. Reclaim, re-login, and then everything started working.

No need to reinstall.

How did you get your browser to stay on the "manage" page?

My browsers (Chrome and Edge) are doing an automatic redirect to:
"https://app.plex.tv/auth/#!?clientI...23&code=2pd89cx6nz7f6w7k9ojn892bh&language=en"
and then requiring the sign in.

So no chance to reclaim my server.

Looking like I may have to do the uninstall-reinstall dance...
