Hey!
I got my FreeNAS running the following plugins Sabnzbd, Couchpotato and Sickbeard.
I have portforwarded all 3 plugins, so I can access them remotely with passwords, that's all great.
I was wondering about installing Plex and letting my family/friends acces my files, is it secure to just portforward it and let others stream the files?

I would not call it secure. If you want your family/friends to access your files, I would recommend using VPN access. That way you can directly control who can access your media, and they're accessing your machine securely. If you open it to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who wants to access it, you risk DoS attacks, because script-kiddies are evil.
