Hi,

What's the recommended way to setup NextCloud on TrueNAS SCALE currently?

Should you use Docker, or VMs? Or some other method?

And how do you link it up to the TrueNAS SCALE storage? (I saw that NextCloud has an external storage feature, which lets you mount SMB/CIFS shares - could you do it that way? Or is there a more efficient/robust way, since TrueNAS SCALE and NextCloud are on the same host?).

Thanks,
Victor

Hi Victor,
I prefer the installation in a TrueNAS Jail and mount the database and data directory into the jail, so that the data is outside the jail and is additionally secured by an automatic snapshot.

There are no jails on Truenas Scale. I also would like to know this answer. I would like to be able to see the files via a network share without using the nextcloud application.

Hi, as TrueNAS Scale user, I prefer using APPS to install NextCloud (there is a TrueCharts one). For host file accessing, either mount points or SMB/CIFS is fine. Note that there may be permission setting need to setup.
