Hello, I'm a noob with freeNas and I have a rosewill nic that I purchased with my build but, it seems I have chosen wrong and I should have spent a little more on an Intel nic. I am receiving a re0 watchdog timeout re0 reset never completed! error. Should I just trade up to an Intel nic? or can this be fixed?

"re0 means that you have a RealTek 8139C+/8169/816xS/811xS/8101E PCI/PCIe Ethernet adapter"

https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/1850
"Realtek 8111F fails at high traffic 're0 Watchdog Timeout Error'"

While it may be a bug in the driver, you are also apparently running a non-reccomended hardware build. Get an Intel card and be done with it. Those cheap realtek chips are not worth the effort IMO.

Is their a recommend Intel card?

Would this one work?

A quad port seems to me to be overkill. An Intel Pro/1000 CT card can be had for around 30 USD and are known to work well.

Verification of a given card tends to be find the chipset used, hit the search here and/or google/yahoo/whatever and profit. :)

Any Intel GbE card should be well supported.

I have two Pro/1000 CTs, or whatever the model name is. They worked perfectly with pfSense, which is based on FreeBSD, like FreeNAS.

Updated:

I just got my Intel nic and it works flawlessly :) No watchdog errors. Just had to reinstall to get the nic to initialize.
