I love the freeNas box I constructed for work, but I am having one problem. The date and time increment very rapidly when i check them with the date command, and this seems to be killing my cifs service. I have had good results manually setting

Code:
sysctl kern.timecounter.hardware=TSC

Problem is that on reboot, it defaults back to ACPI-fast. What file do I need to edit in order for the machine to default to TSC on boot, and what exactly would that syntax be? I am running 8.04. Thanks all!

You can make these changes from the GUI now if you are using version 8.03 or later. On the left side, under the System section, there either Loaders or Sysctls, you can put it in either of those.

Which box should that go in?

Put kern.timecounter.hardware in the field for Variable name and TSC in the Value field. Then click OK, and you'll probably need to reboot for it to take effect.
