Can anyone give me some insight why the time on my FreeNAS server would be off by random amounts. Prior to submitting this thread it was ahead by 3 hours and 10 minutes. I just reset it last week by changing the NTP servers. Unfortunately I haven't been writing down how much it's off each time I reset it so I don't know if it's truly random or if it's off by the same amount each time.

Prior to last weeks reset my NTP servers were:
0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org
1.freebsd.pool.ntp.org
2.freebsd.pool.ntp.org

After last weeks reset my NTP servers are:
0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org
0.pool.ntp.org

I'm still dealing with this. Does anyone have any clue as to why? If I force an update to an NTP server it will correct the time otherwise it continues to get off by random amounts.

Have you been changing your BIOS clock trying to fix it? Set the time in freenas (if you have no outside connectivity) and leave bios clock alone..

BIOS or Fnas is UTC.. Had to amend my startup time for including the time differnece so my box would start up at the appropriate time by BIOS..
