Question about K3S logging(?)

Hi,
on a fresh installation of TrueNAS Scale I noticed that the HDDs are being accessed every about 5 seconds and I wanted to find out, what's causing this.
While researching I figured out that it happens as soon as I choose a Datapool in the Apps section (and stops after unsetting the Datapool).
The files with constant access are these: ..../k3s/server/db/state.db*

As I'm a TrueNAS and K3s noob please allow me the following questions:
* Is this the expected behavior and what is k3s logging(?) even with no installed Apps?
* Is best practice to have a separate SSD pool for the ix-applications Dataset or am I completely overthinking this topic?
