ok... so after selecting the boot device, having it come up (with app missing), rebooting, it every time ends with this is a freeness data disk and can not boot system.
some how it does not want to "play sticky" on the UEFI boot device.

think i found why it was not finding boot device, repeatably.. lets check.
some where the Bios switched to one of the 6 x TB HDD's, it seems selecting a boot device is only for that cycle and does not update it on the bios recorded perm boot device on record.

Depends on your BIOS and which option you are using.

I have several systems which have a "boot from this device once" option in addition to selections for the "permanent" boot method.

If you can find an option to remove the data disks from the boot options list, that may help.

Thanks sretalla.

I have reboot stability again, 4 reboots instructions and it reboots and comes all back up, minus the App pool.

with the above... thinking i'm first going to remove the faulty M.2 quickly... install the 2 x 500GB SSD's, create a pool.
if all goes well then decision, do i create a new Boot USB using Scale. what am I to expect/find.
Will it simply see my then 8 Storage devices.
I accept my Plex, Unify controller is gone, whatever I do I have to rebuild that and they have been my "pause" on doing this migration to scale.

That was exactly the problem, it seem to present a pick boot option when it has a problem, but that is only for that cycle, have now modified the perm boot device configured.
going to do some clean up, remove reference to Plex and Unified Jail and remove app pool reference.
have a clean system we continue.
