Hello all,

I keep having connection issues with Plex Server on Freenas. All my ports are open DMZ on my freenas. I set this up on my Asus router because I keep getting "Your server was unable to reach Plex. Please ensure that the computer or device running your server can access the internet."

Opening the ports did not work at all. I did not have this problem until recently. I honestly don't know when it started.

I also keep getting this error on freenas regarding Plex plugin:

Mar 5 15:28:04 freenas manage.py: [freeadmin.navtree:614] An error occurred while unserializing from http://192.168.1.4/plugins/plexmediaserver/1/_s/treemenu: No JSON object could be decoded

Can you guys help me out please. Is it a bug with the latest version of freenas or something?

I am running the latest stable version of freenas.

Here is the whole text I get on my freenas after reboot that includes the Plex plugin error:

first of all opening every port (DMZ) to freenas sounds rediculusly insecure. opening port in had nothing to do with a services ability to connect out.

can you ping google.com from your plex jail's command line?

Yes I can it seems. I can also connect to it through my website because of DDNS. I can also see all my shares in my network just fine.

What I did was assign a static IP to the Plex jail with the MAC address it provided in Freenas. I opened the port for Plex and still nothing. Then I made the Plex jail DMZ and still can't connect to it. Now I'm stuck. I don't know if it's a setting on my router or what. I even fresh installed freenas again and updated it to the latest stable program.
Then installed Plex and it worked fine! Then after updating the "web" to the latest version and adding libraries it happened again. Plex can't communicate with the server. Ugh.

I'll post pictures of my Asus router settings and freenas settings. I honestly don't know what the heck is going on now.

Okay, I figured out why this is happening. Just don't know the cause. When I add a library to Plex from my created storage in Plex (for example: media/movies) then my connection from Plex to my server stops working. It just doesn't want to connect. Right after I remove the library from my Plex it works right away. Why is this happening? Thanks.

Hello all, can anyone help me out?

I cannot figure out why adding storage folder to Plex plugin then adding it as a Library inside Plex causes connection issues between my server and Plex. Once I delete the Library inside Plex then it goes back to normal. For what ever reason the folder I add as Library are causing an issue between my plugin Plex and server. Thanks.
