Well, FreeNAS isn't linux, so your lack of linux experience doesn't really matter. ;)

But if it's not listed as supported its not likely to work. You're going to need to go shopping for one that is compatible.

Hi

So the Powerwalker VI650LCD is not listed in Freenas but use Blazer_usb driver

The PowerWalker VI 850 LCD is listen in freenas and use Blazer_usb driver

Is the diffrense between thease 2 so big that the 650 will not work and the 850 will ?

Or is it something else I an doing wrong?

The site http://www.networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html says that
If your device isn’t listed

First, if there are other models by the same manufacturer, try their drivers. You may find that it "just works" or mostly works.

So i thinking that mayby it will be posibel til get the Powerwalker VI650LCD to work? But if its not i just buy a VI850 LCD but i would be nice to know that do the trick.
So i don't have 2 UPS that i can't use :smile:

Did you check it was connected properly before you cut the power? If so, I would try some of the other Powerwalker usb models in the list in case their driver options suit yours better. Or try some of the options on http://www.networkupstools.org/docs/man/blazer.html As I recollect Freenas gives you a text box for ups.conf options. Some ups.conf options don't like spaces, especially around the = sign.

Anybody have a ide about what this can be? Have i used the wrong usb port in the config?

Do i have to setup some thing in the ups.conf window?
It looks to me that the ups send some information to the freenas box, because i have only connected the usb cable the power from the ups i just to a lamp when i test now :smile:

If i have to setup something in the ups.conf anybody have a sugestion to what i can use?

hope to get this working soon:smile: so any replay i take with big gratitude :smile:

Possibly the first thing to check is whether the UPS is ever connected. Go to the shell window in the gui and look at #less /var/log/ups.log. Should be tabular information with the third to last column (or some column anyway) being 'OL' for online. Or try #upsc <name given to your ups>@localhost, should give a list of values. If this is working, then you are connected to the right usb and to the ups, and it is a matter of why the driver gets disconnected when the ups goes on battery. If it isn't working, then it could be the wrong usb port or something else.

So it looks as though the first time the driver polls the ups for information it becomes disconnected. So two things that people have used on this forum, being restarting the driver or increasing the polling interval, seem unlikely to work. Have you tried a different usb cable, poor quality, unscreened or broken usb cables can do this? If that doesn't help it may be worth seeing what FreeNAS puts in ups.conf for your choice of ups.

Hi

It's been a wild :smile: But have got the UPS to work. But still some small problems :smile:

What I have done is set the port to "auto" and pollinterval=15
My ups.conf file look like this.

Code:
[Powerwalker850]
    driver = blazer_usb
    port = auto
    desc = ""
pollinterval=15

This is working fine, but when it goes 1-2 days the UPS become disconected for some reason. So is it plausible to make a cron job to restart the ups servicece?
When I just login to WEB GUI and restart this the UPS service, is working again, for 1-2 days :smile: Not sure way its disconecting after so long. but i think by using a cron job i can get around the problem. But havent found a command for restarting ups servicece yet. Is there a way to restart the services by a cron job ?
