I think you probably meant that the "administrator " is called root in Freenas .I understand but that is what keeps me out after I make a usb and setup the initial setup. I thought saving the setup would fix it but it didnt. I am going to try what GPSguy said and see what that does. Its weird how even if i do a hard erse of the usb sticks i have to go get a new one to do a new format/compress and burn freenas onto it and I can only get in 1 time. Yeah I spent an entire day setting up CIFS,Plugins and jails and 2 users and all kinds of stuff but I havent got 1 piece of data on it as it would be silly at this point.

As I said before, hook up your Visio TV to the server, along with a keyboard and reset the password using option #7 on the console menu.

That's the password you will use, along with the root username to login to the webGUI

Well thanks to GPSguy . I just got it up and running and logged in by doing what he said I got it to let me enter #7 option after burning a new iso to a new Verbatim 8mbStore an go stick. It took a while It was first giving me the "this is a freenas data drive system halted" I shut it down and cleared cmos and it finally booted. ASROCK RACK C226 motherboard with 12 SATA ports rocks ! I got a Zero Hours Supermicro SAE10 motherboard for sale! Thanks so much to GPSGUY for the phone call and I set up a new 4 digit password and myself as the wheel. It lost all my previuos settings but that is fine if it works. I already saved the config and I am just gonna keep setting up my stuff CIFS ,Plugins and Jails. I am really lery of ever shutting it down. Its on a new UPS so I guess I will wait for the next power outage. LOL Problem finally solved, That was the longest month of PC hell I have ever been thru ! LOL

Paul, I am glad to hear that the issue is finally resolved.

If you haven't configured FreeNAS to work with your UPS, take a look at section 8.14 of the manual.

You are correct! I havent .The ups came with a usb cord and software but I am sure its probably windows based. I am going to look at both and see what looks better but I lean heavily toward the freenas software application. I really need to get another one now for my other computers and the gaming/racing simulator. Geez, its just that whole money thing keeps getting in the way! LOL Take care and thank you very much.
