I recently made the grave mistake of pulling the power plug on my SAN when I was intending to unplug one of my VM hosts. Pools came back up mostly fine, save a checksum error on one mirrored SSD which was fixed by resilvering.

In terms of protecting data on my pools, is it worth investing in a boot drive with PLP? More specifically, is anything relevant to the ZIL or data in-flight stored, even temporarily, on the boot drive at any given moment.. ever  ?

I believe the answer would be no, and thusly PLP on the boot drive would largely be cost-ineffective as worst-case scenario I'd be facing a reinstall of TrueNAS if the boot drive was corrupted.. But wanted to ask the community just in case.

I should mention I already have an intel P4801x with PLP as an SLOG..
