Hi,

I was trying to follow the Posting Rules suggestion to put my build specs in my signature, but my text kept getting rejected. I spent five minutes trying to whittle it down to the bare minimum to not have any data loss, and it was still rejected. I tried variations on this, with and without CODE blocks:

Current build:
Code:
CPU: AMD A6-3650 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (1996.41-MHz K8-class CPU)
real memory = 17179869184 (16384 MB)
Manufacturer: MSI Product Name: A75MA-G55 (MS-7696)
01:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03)
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 06)
04:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03)

It would be great if the signature field could tolerate technical data.

I think it's just a limitation on new users, to help reduce spam. Once you have a few posts and a like or two (I just gave you one to jumpstart that), that'll pass.

Just gave you a helper on the jumpstart.
Not sure so much data needed in your signature specs but to each his own.

Welcome to the forums!

btw, you might want to get an Intel Pro/1000 CT NIC to replace your onboard Realtek.

@Ericloewe if we want to relax these restrictions we can do that. Do you want to start a dialogue with the other mods and get their input?

Well, I don't think we've ever had a spam problem in sigs, so maybe we can do that.

is it even possible to just relax the rules in the signatures section? I remember @JoshDW19 saying permissions in here are a little...... unique

They're byzantine, but not inflexible. They're clearly designed by a bureaucrat hell-bent on making everyone's life worse. Probably inherited from vbulletin...

Need to make sure signsutures can't have links to external website for newbies (don't know if this is already the case), otherwise you will see a bunch of spammers with links in their sigs.

Good point, especially if user profiles are searchable by search engines.

Can you prevent URL's from being used in the subject line? It seems like the spammers like to put their URL"s there.

Also you should use SPOILER tags not CODE tags
