I have a N54L with 8gb of ram (might be possible to get up to 16gb) and 6 rust + 1 ssd drives (modded the setup a bit) and I wanted to put TrueNAS scale on it. I saw a fair number of posts, most are older, about running true/free nas on a n54l but didnt find any about truenas scale. I dont want to assume anything as I am a complete truenas noob so am posting. I would not be doing VMs really, mainly backup and perhaps a few dockers. For what its worth, and forgive me, I am coming from UnRaid, it works well enough but had issues with file corruption and really want to move to ZFS.
Thanks in advance

Generally, Linux would be compatible with more hardware, so if it works for CORE, SCALE is a pretty good chance to work too.

Minimum RAM was lifted to 16GB, so better if you can get that much.

Yes it is possible with 16GB, i tried this in the beta. I even had apps running on it. You will find it very slow however, pretty much any workload maxed out the box. I was thinking of using it as a test/prototyping box for apps, but I found it was so slow as to be not useful, so in the end I put ubuntu on mine, put in a low end graphics card and sat tv card, installed kodi and docker with tvheadend and made it into a TV + satellite TV server for the house. Works great.
