Hello All. If this issue has been addressed in another forum could you please direct me there and accept my apology? Anyway, I have a FreeNas box with 1 1TB drive formatted ZFS. If I buy another hard drive and plug it in can I format it for Mac Extended Journaled, or is it that once you have one drive on ZFS the others must join the pool? Thanks.

You could have multiple drives with different formats. The real question to ask is if FreeBSD/FreeNAS supports the Mac Extended Journaled file system.

Hint: No it doesn't.

FreeBSD/FreeNAS only supports ZFS and UFS completely. There is NTFS support, but it is buggy and can cause corruption.
