FreeNAS 11.2 is still beta, RC should be released soon.

Ports support for FreeBSD 11.1 has ended. The "proper" fix is to use 11.2. Unfortunately, FreeNAS 11.2 is (as @SavageAUS notes) still in beta.

was curious about this also.... I updated to 11.2 last night (totally didn't pay attention to it being BETA when it said 11.2-stable) Oh well, now I am here and trying to make the best of it.

When I enter a jail, there is not a /usr/ports directory available... (so can't install a port)
Also, at the freenas level, there is a /usr/ports/packages dir structure, but nothing in it.

Definitely should have done my homework before upgrading.

No, there won't be by default. portsnap fetch extract will fix that.

And if you map your ports directory outside of the jail you don’t need to download it in every jail just add the mount point to fstab. Just make sure to map correctly.
