Well, I just got done replacing the motherboard and transferring all hardware over to a Fractal 804. Now after about two weeks a drive has dropped out.

I'm not finding anything that might test the drive in Truenas so should I go ahead and replace it or is there something I should try beforehand?

Thanks

Search box: smartctl

Something like the following should gather drive Intel:

smartctl -ax /dev/sda

Did that hedgehog. It didn't even find the drive.

root@Nero[~]# smartctl -a /dev/ada6

if the drive has dropped out entirely, it's time to replace it.

On a home system I'd power it off and check the cabling first, sometimes things happen and it's "unusual" it's dead. It could also be a bad SATA controller.

If you have a USB boot drive like SystemRescue then two drives can be swapped and tested without affecting the TrueNAS system.
