Plugins have no write access

Hello FreeNAS Community,

i have a FreeNAS Server and have installed Sabnzbd, Sickbeard, Plex and Couchpotatoe. All works but i can't add Shows with Sickbeard and all other Plugins. Everytime i get the Message that i don't have write access. My Data is on a ZFS(4x 1TB) with a CIFS share and i have set the Windows Rightsystem to it. My Jails are on a 500GB HDD. Can u help me?

The jail doesn't care about your CIFS share and I'm not going to address it.
The jail just knows sabnzbd runs as the media user (by default), UID 816. Whatever directory your are trying to download to needs to be writeable by that user. So either..
  • change the ownership of that directory/dataset to UID 816
  • in the jail, add 'media' to the group that owns that directory/dataset and make it group writeable
  • loosen permission so that anyone can write into that directory/dataset

Also, I assume you are mounting a dataset into your jail for these files. Do not change ownership/permission levels of the Jail datasets.

Thanks for the Answer... I don't know why but, I have no user/group with the UID 816 or "media" in its name.

The user is only created in the jail. It's up to you if your solution means creating it in the FreeNAS userland as well. FreeNAS and it's jails do not share users / group databases, only files with an associated UID/GID.

This is when SickBeard is trying to send stuff to sab, or during post-processing? Are you using sabnzb'd api or having sickbeard drop nzb's somewhere?

What is your directory structure of downloads and media in the jail.
Everything works perfectly for me, always, but I have a single dataset for both my downloads and media owned by user 'media' mounted in my jail.

you could just the API method and have sickbeard directly tell sabnzbd what to download. This is more efficient cause sabnzbd doesnt need to be scanning the Watched folder.

Also, I personally recommend having your completed downloads and final media locations on the same dataset, mounted into the jail(s) using a single mountpoint. Otherwise Sickbeard has to do a read-write-delete operation instead of just moving the file within the same dataset (which is just changing some reference blocks).

For example, media is my only dataset, everything else is just folders..

I have no idea. that's completely unrelated to FreeNAS's sickbeard implementation. I'd ask on the on the sickbeard forum
