What most of you* don't realize is that the minimum system requirements are indeed minimum requirements for the safe and stable operation of your system. They aren't set that way just to piss people off or to make FreeNAS users some sort of elite group; they're set that way because operating with less than the required hardware is known to cause sudden, unpredictable, non-recoverable data loss. To recommend that people run in production on less than the required hardware is irresponsible. If you want to run a NAS on less hardware than FreeNAS requires, there are lots of other NAS software distributions out there--use one of them instead.What most of you don't realise is that not all of us have cash ready to spend on new hardware. We are not kids with dad's money...
And I'd wager that none of the regular posters here are "kids with dad's money".
