Hello,

I get the following messages when I log into the UI, looking @ the UI's console :

For transmission, it looks to be working fine, meaning I can get to the web UI for it. When installing Transmission initially (two days ago), the plugin was also missing from the enabled plugins list and I was getting 503s for it as well. Seems to have cured over time.

For Crashplan, the plugin is listed as installed and disabled. It won't turn on (the webUi flashes "Some error occured" for 1 second).

Any hints on how to start an investigation? Is it a network config issue?

If it matters, I believe this is just an error that it can't get the icon for the jail. So it defaults back to the regular puzzle piece icon. Was happening to me for a while even back on 9.10.

Setup your gateway and crashplan is a terrible plugin that doesn't work.

Now that's encouraging.

I would like to have some of my freenas files been backed up to a cloud location.. I'vre tried some solutions for the windows client but none of them seem to know to handle network drives.

Crashplan on the freenas box itself looked like a more straightforward solution.

Is it wrong for me to hope that, as bad as a plugin as it may be, it might just work for me out of pure luck? How would i try to start it from cli interface, since from web it wont budge?

I use crashplan and love it. I ran it on freenas for about a year way back when. The problem is crashplan auto updates their app and every updates breaks it on freebsd. So one day you will get notified that crashplan has not backed up. Then you will spend the next 3 days reading the during and messing with it too get it started. Just search the forums and your will see all the problems. The easy way is to just run it on a Linux or Windows client and backup from your shares.

I see.. thanks for sharing that experience. It definetely looks like something i'd rather avoid :)

So there's no other plugin in freenas which serves a similar purpose? I saw something in that list which backs up to s3.. but afaik an s3 account is not something suitable for personal use (i do use it @ work as we deploy app servers on amazon instances)

I think there are a couple other plugins that do backup. Never used them however.

SweetAndLow has it right. When Crashplan works it works great, when it doesn't it's all forum searching and hair pulling. Also, getting it to work headless in a jail was always a PITA as well. And of course don't forget that you might get crap speeds to their data center.

I've been using Arq and Amazon Cloud Drive for my backups recently, but this is running on another windows system just pointing at my shared volumes on FreeNAS.
