Thanks for this excellent work.

I am completely new to FreeNAS but think I'm doing ok so far.
I have successfully (I think) installed the jail plugin and have the service running.
I am now trying to install LMS, the problem I am having is with portsnap fetch.
It just returns failed No mirrors remaining, giving up.
I did a search and pinged portsnap2.FreeBSD.org from within my jail and get the following.

PING portsnap.FreeBSD.org (46.137.83.240): 56 data bytes

This times out so I'm guessing its something to do with either my bt Hub 3 or windows firewall.

Id be grateful for any suggestions as I'm kind of fumbling in the dark

Thanks

well I'm not sure why, but after a reboot I'm on the way again.:)

I have run into this
Code:
===>  pkgconf-0.8.5 conflicts with installed package(s):
      pkg-config-0.25_1

They install files into the same place.
Please remove them first with pkg_delete(1).
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/devel/pkgconf.

but a quick google search found this
Code:
pkg_delete -f pkg-config-0.25_1
cd /usr/ports/devel/pkgconf
make install clean

so its currently installing stuff.

I will report back later.

Seems I spoke to soon.

I am still having trouble !!.

My library is in apple lossless format M4a and going into LMS Server Settings if I set the media folder on the basic settings tab to
Code:
 /media/iTunes Media/Music
then i can scan the files but they will only play on an apple device through ipeng.
If I try and play through the squeezebox I get a file not supported error.

If I leave the media folder within basic settings blank and instead go into the Itunes tab, and browse to the Itunes xml file
Code:
/media/iTunes Library.xml
then the scan shows Itunes Import 7638 of 7638 but the library statistics show 0 tracks.

Stuck Now Please Help !!!!!!

Hmm

found this in the sever log file

Code:
[12-11-04 00:56:55.9742] main::init (354) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.8.0, 1342011222, Thu Jul 12 04:39:03 MDT 2012) perl 5.014002
[12-11-04 00:56:56.7142] Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper::postConnect (359) Optimizing DB because of missing or empty sqlite_stat1 table
[12-11-04 00:56:57.5849] main::checkDataSource (1074) Warning: Schema updated or no media found in the database, initiating scan.
[12-11-04 00:57:24.6275] Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper::postConnect (359) Optimizing DB because of missing or empty sqlite_stat1 table

Im wondering if this is my problem?

I think the log output only shows that DB is empty, so it initiates a scan, that would be normal.

The problem is the scan seems to fail.

You should try and setup a quick LMS server on a windows computer and see if you have the same problem. Maybe it's a general issue not related to this package.

Hi
I have LMS set up on my desktop and that scans the server music files and plays them fine.

So although I'm way out of my depth knowledge wise, I think it is a problem with the package.

The file types setting in the advanced LMS settings page seems ok with Apple lossless set to native, and the server will stream live radio.

If you have any other ideas please let me know Thanks

Just to confirm

If I set a media folder on the LMS basic settings page then the scan picks up the files, if they are flac then they play fine.

It is only the Itunes scan which is failing for some reason. The scan report shows the correct number of tracks and goes through the motions of importing, but no tracks are imported.

I really don't know what's going on.
You say Apple lossless files are scanned fine when you put the media folder, or just the FLAC files?

Yes if I set my media folder in the basic settings within LMS to be the apple lossless files then the scan completes, all the albums and artwork appear.
If I use ipeng to play these files (soft squeeze) they play fine, if I try and play through any squeezebox (touch etc) then I get a file type not supported error.

Maybe a library used to play Apple Lossless files is missing, i only have flacs.
Sorry i don't know what to do to help.
Is the LMS version you use successfully on your desktop exactly the same?

I will ask for help on the slim server NAS forum.

Thanks.

Hi,
I just installed your fantastic port of LMS, to usual jail, not plugin jail.
Works very well, thank you.
But... I have lms_enable="NO" in my rc.conf. LMS runing also...
What I'm doing wrong?

Resolved.
One of last lines in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/lms is lms_enable="YES"...
Removing of this line was the solution.

Hello,

First, thanks for the instructions and script for installation.

I have a "little" problem.

Whenever I start LMS, I get following error on "locale" support:

Code:
Your locale was detected as C, you may have problems with non-Latin filenames. Consider changing your LANG variable to the correct locale, i.e. en_US.utf8

Do you know how do I change locale for jail?

Regards
Darko

For me it interferes with startup of "Transmission" plugin. Effectively, transmission starts, but in GUI webpage it is not notified that it has started. Only when I stop LMS, it notifies it has successfully started.

Code:

Also, I'm planning to install MySQL for XBMC library, so just do not want to get that in the way to be honest.

Bear in mind that I have a lot of music from "old Yugoslavia" that has extra central European letter set in file names, and I have noticed that when scanning, it's showing weird characters, but in the webpage it's fine reading tags.

Do you have any issues with French letters?

Not any issue concerning accentuated characters, no problem at all :)

About serbian locale, try to add these 2 lines into your /etc/csh.login:
setenv LANG sr_YU.UTF-8
setenv MM_CHARSET UTF-8

For another language try to inspect your /usr/share/locale and choose your country and charset.
