Hey Guys,

Build FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201506042008
Plex
Version 0.9.12.4

I've had Plex installed for over a month, but have had not luck getting metadata to download. I can't figure out how to resolve the problem, because everything else works fine. It's connected to my TV just fine, the media plays well. Media is detected properly.

To test a crazy theory, I also installed Plex on my MBP, and that downloads metadata just fine. I also have no idea where my manually populated metadata is stored; considering changing my HDD and will also need this info.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks

I found an underlying problem with my NAS' connection to the internet earlier today.
I used to use Emby, and it collected metadata just fine, so I thought I'd eliminated that idea.

Metdata and images are populated correctly and automatically now.

Thanks for the suggestion jadechessink.

The underlying issue was that my FreeNAS wasn't connecting to the internet correctly.
I was unable to ping a website from the shell.

Here is the thread that helped me solve this problem:
Can't install plugins or ping form shell

What I ended up doing is listed near the middle of the thread.

I never set the DNS server setting.
You can set that option through the GUI under Network -> Global Configuration -> Nameserver 1
I ended up pointing it to a public DNS server (Google's 8.8.8.8).

Once the name server was set, I was able to ping, update the Freenas, and install and update plugins using the GUI.
I just reinstalled the latest Plex from the plugins menu and I was golden!
