Plex media server

Hello, currently I have a dl360 G5 running my NAS, I was going to have another one run a stand alone plex server until I noticed that the pass marks for plex per 1080 transcode is around 2k. My DL 360 only has 3k pass marks.
I have a DL580 that has around 8k pass marks per cpu. Does the freenas plug in still rely heavily on the cpu. If it does switching to the 580 would be my best bet, because it has 64GB ram for freenas as well.

Which hardware did you end up using?

I tried the DL580, but ran into speedstep issues that I can't seem to resolve. I am going to use my current freenas set up, I just upgraded the cpus with a better passmark score.
