[solved] Persistent messages logs (surviving reboot)

Hi,
My NAS has recently crashed. I could ping it, but no longer SSH it, and couldn't access it in any ways.
So i had to hard reboot it, and after that everything went fine, but as logs are not saved, i can't investigate on the crash problem.

Is there any way to make the logs (/var/logs/messages) persistent, like in any other system?

Thanks for helping

No thanks, i'm not going to add another 24/7 server in my home just to get the logs of my NAS!
I'm looking for a way to configure FreeNAS 8 so that logs are persistent, or placed in my zpool.

You could configure your syslog to log into one of the filesystems in the pool

I'll try this when at home and will keep you updated, thanks a lot!

(i assume a have to mount / -uw before modifying syslog.conf ? )

William, thanks a lot, it works great!
I just added this line to the mentionned file :
*.* /mnt/zepool/all.log

Thanks again!
