Hello, I'm using TrueNAS since a couple of months and was tying today to set up a openvpn connection for backing-up a remote host on my TrueNAS VERSION="13.1-RELEASE-p9.

Setup was pretty easy and VPN connection was working as expected from my side. To check if everything is working after that, TrueNAS-system was restarted and every change that I made was lost

"/etc/local/openvpn" directory was not more present after reboot
Symlink was also gone after reboot in /usr/local/etc/rc.d: openvpn_mail -> /usr/local/etc/rc.d/openvpn
I also tried to use /var/backups for some local system backup of one configuration; that directory was also empty after reboot.

I'm very familiar with linux but that is very strange to me. But I believe there is a very easy explanation for that?

Thanks and BR

TrueNAS is an appliance OS, not a distribution. And changes made to the system will be remove on reboot or update. They do have an OpenVPN service in the Services tab though.
