Permissions ownership only visible in Windows 10

Hi There,

I'm running TrueNAS-12.0-U8..
I'm sharing files via smb

I noticed that whenever I start a Linux box be Lubuntu Live or a installed Debian 11 I can't see permissions or ownership of the files/directories
I noticed that the same files/directories under Windows 10 list the ownership/permissions

How can I change this behaviour.

That feature might rely on SMB1 POSIX extensions. This is a legacy / deprecated feature.

I have't looked at the particular details of dolphin, but IIRC gnome uses libsmbclient to do this. libsmbclient has an API for getting / setting an SMB ACL. You can check Dolphin against a Windows server and see whether it provides ownership / permissions info. If it doesn't then it's a problem that upstream needs to fix.

I'd probably use mount.cifs to perform mounts and then see if the file manager does the right thing with those.

On linux you can view/set the SMB ACL directly via getcifsacl / setcifsacl.
