hi guys

Had some stick of ram go bad and looking for some help? currently running it on some old ram only 2gb i know thats not enough but just looking to make sure my files are safe... but very worried atm
been running raid5 accross 4 disks

basicly if i go into gui and inport my pool it crashes freenas to restart
so go to shell and import pool and it says something about mount point
then type zpool status -v

and get all 4 disks online with 0 0
errors permanent errors have been detected in the following files:
zfspool:/*****/**** etc etc

i hoping i can just delete the one file? or is my pool screwed?

I'd wait until oyu ahve more RAM before trying to access your files.

What you don't need right now is to be short on ram and crash the system again while your zpool may already be in trouble.

right reading through this link http://forums.freenas.org/threads/panic.9057/page-2

I have booted freeBSD 9.1

used option 2 escape to loader prompt

entered set vfs.zfs.recover=1 (enter) then boot (enter)

nothing happens just get an option to install freeBSD or run live.

Ran live upon the prompt entered zpool import -F -f -o readonly=on -R /mnt ****

get a problem about mount point and from there im kinda stuck

dunno what to do?

upon booting freenas after doing this i try to auto import pool and it just goes through loads of writing to quick to read then crashed and reboots

When you say RAID5 do you mean a hardware RAID?

Hmm, trying to do a forced mount is supposed to be one of the "last ditch" efforts because it can be destructive and is not undoable. In your case you don't have much luck since you already did that and could have made things worse. Just from experience with helping others with recovery since I've had quite a few this year once you've tried a forced mount that doesn't mount the pool your chances are almost zero you'll get it to mount.
