Hello,

I'm following the instructions here.
http://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas_storage.html#periodic-snapshot-tasks

I think I understand it but the wording isn't entirely clear.
If I set it to snapshot from 9:00am till 06:00pm, I believe that's just the time window it will perform the snapshot in, correct?
The interval is set to 1 day and I've ticked all 7 days of the week.
I've set the expiry of the snapshot to be 2 days.

If I'm right, this should mean I'll have one or two backups at most of my previous state and then they will be deleted to save space, perpetually correct?

Cheers.

That is correct. This should produce daily snapshots named in this pattern "auto-yyyy-mmdd.0900-2d". Unless you have many changes that occur in very large files, I would suggest increasing retention period. I keep my snapshots for 3 weeks and usually take then early in the morning between 3am - 5am. Then I have replication setup that occurs between 5am to 7am to another zfs pool.

Thanks for the response, I will increase retention, they aren't taking much space.
