Testing is just eliminating all variables, but that's not easy when you don't know all the variables, it's why most of my bugs, come with a forum post that's 15 posts long in the first place.
I'm just glad the function exists, having got it working a couple of times, I suspect I will be using it as a backup option also.
BTW your backups WILL work (if I'm reading it right) it's just you currently, can't restore with an _
