Lawrence Systems just posted a video with the results of some performance testing with CORE 12 vs CORE 13 vs SCALE. tl;dr appears to be that SCALE performs abysmally in random writes:

Not super surprising. We're seeing some obvious low hanging fruit we need to solve as well. Expect that to improve in the upcoming releases of SCALE.
