password issue

Hi,

Totally new at this. While changing the admin info and password, I found that I can not change the password. The PDF manual I read said that I can leave that "old password" blank as a default there is none. But it will not allow me to change it as I need to input the "old password", but have no idea what that could be and the manual said to leave it blank. When I first open the page up it never asked me to use admin nor put in a password. I logged out on my desktop and now cant log back in, but my laptop still has access to my nas system. Anyone have any idea's of what I can do?

Hi Scott,

What version are you using?

You can try putting 'freenas' (all lowercase / without quotes) in as the old password.

Hi protosd,

I have version 8.0.4 and just installed it yesterday onto an old PC tower. I just tried your suggestion and came up with no success.

*edit* - not sure if it really matters but it is the 32 bit version as well.

I figured it out. I ended up hooking a screen up to the my nas and reset the password and set it as "freenas". Appreciate your help.
