Partitioned HDD

I have an older pc with a 1000gb hdd and I am making it into a home nas unit and if I partition my hdd with windows if I install truenas core onto it will I be able to create pools and shares on the other partitions?

TN uses the entire boot disk. You cannot (hacking aside) use it for dual boot or pools/datasets/shares
