Hello all, I built my box back when 9.2 was out. Well I tried to update the OS and somehow killed the usb drive.
I downloaded the newest OS and plan to install soon. My question is did I just lose all of my movies that I had on the data drives, which were separate from the OS?

Not unless you used encryption and lost encryption keys...

No just reinstall and upload your config if you have it.

Reinstall the old version that was running before the upgrade, then upload the config that you backed up before the upgrade. I've recently had a string a boot drive failures, and this has brought my two servers back each time. I save a CD of the OS that I'm currently running just for this purpose.

If you don't have your config, sometimes you can find it on the drives through a shell. And if just a few files were corrupt on the boot device, reinstalling the OS might find the config and restore by itself. (might maybe)
