Been using FreeNas 9.X as a fileserver/archiver for my debian based SAMBA domain.
In the process of migrating to CORRAL. Test box up and running on an old pentiumD. So far, so good. Hopefully will go into production next week after a few more testing.

Carlos

That's not going to be pleasant. Even Core 2 CPUs are too slow, in practice.

But, good luck.

Thank you for the reply! I do realize the rig is a "little bit" underspec :( . Only 8GB (ECC) Ram.

Preliminary results indicate a sustained write speed of 60MB/s on a RAIDZ1 with 3x1TB (soon will be mirrored (2+1)) disks with 2-5 simultaneous users over one SMB share.
Read speed is about 20% higer.
This on a 2x1GiB bonded (sorry, lagg'ed) nic.
It's not amazing, but sure beats the USB2.0 interfaces this disks where on. Now backups and shares are, at least, centralized.

regards,
Carlos
