Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to add a disk to an existing zfs pool, mirror the disk and then remove it from the pool (maybe with zfs offline/detach)? My plan is to take this disk to another site and have an offsite backup of the entire pool. I would regularly need to easily add it to the pool for resilvering and then I would repeat the process of taking the disk to another site.
I've read on stackexchange that there are issues with this method. Can anyone weigh in on why this should not be used as an offsite solution? This offsite solution covers all my use case scenarios.
To add insult to injury, my pool is GELI encrypted, so that is also a wildcard on this matter
