Odd Issue with iSCSI

Angelfish release - all updates applied.

Trying to setup iSCSI from TrueNAS to Proxmox (and Mint workstation).
Configured the portal, initiator list, targets and extents without issue; targets appears on the host when querying the portal.
This is without authentication.

I enabled CHAP authentication on the portal and created users using the associated Discovery Auth Group ID.
Restarted the iSCSI service.
Deleted all files in the nodes and send_targets directory (just in case) on Proxmox and Mint workstation.
Did not enable CHAP authentication on the initiator (Proxmox, Mint workstation).
Queried the portal expecting an authentication error but I'm the full list of targets.

Tried creating a new portal, same issue.
Tried applying CHAP authentication to the targets; I can mount them.

What setting am I missing? I've already selected CHAP on both the portal and the targets.

Thanks in advance.

TrueNAS-SCALE-22.12.3.3 has the same issue. Tried WIPING truenas and used multiple pc's to connect, CHAP is allowing any password even blank. Moving to the development channel to see if they fixed it yet.

Well, I can confirm that chap is still not fixed. Any user, password or blank will connect which is a massive security issue. We will be looking to use SMB instead if at all possible.
