Hello,

this is my 1rst attempt to run FreeNas (v8.2), the installation is done on an "old" Athlon X2 PC with 3 HDs,

I'm having trouble with NTFS import volume, it seems to be ok but it's not :

the volume seems to be mounted, exemple :

letera5 /mnt/letera5 129.4 MiB (0%) 1.4 TiB 1.4 TiB UNKNOWN (where unknown is the statut)

then when I clic on volume status, I just have a message that there is an error with explanation mark, that's it.

I've tried to format this disc several times in Gparted and windows7 but this doesn't change anything,

The thing is I need to keep it in NTFS to be able to transfer datas from the 2 other hard drives :
- One have 2 windows (XP 32 bits & 7 64 bits) + datas on a separate partition, all NTFS
- and the other is holding datas only, it is nearly full with 8OO/900 Go, just one partition, but dynamic NTFS volume.

I don't think that having some Windows system installed on one of the HD can cause a problem as FreeNAS is on separate USB key & anyway that disk is not mounted.

I would really appreciate some help there,

I know there has been several thread about NTFS volume import but I feel lost about it and because I don't see what is the error, and the GUI volume import is supposed to be working ok with NTFS now,

btw here is the console info I pasted :

Same Issue

I have a very similar problem, please someone respond.

I've imported a NTFS external usb drive converted to internal sata.

Volume displays as UNKNOWN with other informations but when I click on status it says an error occured.

Hello,
I didn't find any solution to this ntfs import problem,

so I had to empty a whole drive (the biggest in size) and format it in UFS with FreeNAS,

then copy the datas from another ntfs drive to the UFS drive,

format this second drive in UFS and so on.

Sorry I can't help you, but I think FreeNAS team could try to investigate a little time about this NTFS import problem

Thanks man as I'm concerned I'm switching for Ubuntu Server. I won't waste my time learning freebsd if I can dig further into linux.
Pick the undocumented and cryptic OS that suits you best lol
