Noob question - disk replacement after offline

I don't have hot swap drive bays, but physical sata connectors and power connectors. I have a failed drive. Once I Offline my failed drive, do I shut the server down, physically remove bad drive and physically install the replacement drive? Then proceed with online new drive etc?

Thanks for your patience with my question. Rather be safe than sorry and ask the question.

Yes, except that "online new disk" shall read "replace offline/missing drive with new drive".
in the GUI: Storage > Pools > (gear) > Status > (old drive) > (3-dot) > Replace

Note that if you have a free SATA port and the old drive has not totally broken down you may install the new drive first, replace the old drive and then remove when resilver is complete (ZFS will automatically offline the old drive). This way resilver takes place with no loss of redundancy.

That's what I would do. No reason to take risks of an accident of some sort by not shutting down

OK I'm resilvering now. I labeled my drives this time. That was a pain finding the missing serial number. Thanks everyone for your help.
