I neefd to setup Freeenas currently with one drive, NTFS, no authentication and no encryption. With furue expansion of Raid mirror or srtiped across multiple volumes. Currently using a Dell optiplex with T7200 CPU and four gigs of ram. All client machines are windows, so ntfs/samb is preffred. IM finding it hard to create such a simple setup when Freenas prefers to use ZFS.

I know there must be a simple walkthru for such a confuguration, but Ive read till my eyes bleed and Freenas seems to balk at trying to create such a simple config. Please help.

Your hardware is inadequate for running freenas. I suggest looking into a different OS.

BTW, there is no need to have NTFS on a Unix file server. Samba handles all the compatibility stuff.

He was in IRC about 6 hours ago. I think that the point was made clear to him that FreeNAS isn't particularly appropriate for his situation. ;)

Actually, I watched everyone else feed from him. I'm not an IRC moderator (thank god) and he was getting spanked enough by the other IRC guys that I didn't need to say anything.
