Is it possible to create a remote replication without using root / wheel?
I tried via the GUI but without success.

I'd really appreciate any hints or instructions.

Hey @SBM

You need to give us the details about your setup and here, the version you are using on source and target...

Please, read this before posting...

My bad - I figured by posting under TrueNAS it was not necessary for now.
Both source and target are on TrueNAS-12.0-U1.

I can list the hardware, but I imagine this has nothing to do with it.

It does. Running with less than 8G of RAM is known to cause problem. Non-Intel NIC are also problematic, ... Give us all the details please.

TrueNAS runs fine otherwise, I just can't get remote replication setup without root.

Both servers: Intel Xeon CPU, ~64 GB of RAM, 2 x 1000 MBps Intel NIC.

I think replication always runs as root in FreeNAS, although this isn't a strict requirement. Of course, the remote login can be anything appropriate and should be configured in terms of the connection used for the replication.
