I just want to confirm something: there is no Raid 5 on FreeNAS 8?

I was going to go with RaidZ until I saw the install video recommending at least 4gb RAM. I've been using FreeNAS 7 because I have an old PC and a number of drives.

I've gone through the PDF Guide, both FAQs and the WebGUI but can't conclusively determine if Raid 5 is supported.

Many thanks

Understood, but only for high-end servers?

I gather there is no "regular" Raid 5 support on any other file system?

Should I revert back to FreeNAS 7 for my humble home file server?

It is not correct to say raidz is raid5 in zfs, they are different beasts...

graid5 (the one in freenas 7) is deprecated and will no longer be available... unless something changes

Mmm.. just checking system load and I can't see excessive use while loading data to the mount point. I'm transferring @ 80Mb/s constantly. I'm running a single CPU 1.3Ghz with 256MB RAM.
