Hello,

I have the following FreeNAS setup:
- 2 targets with device extents
- 1 portal
- one initiator with all networks are authorized
- standard common target settings with iqn.2012-09.domain as base name

I have two Windows 2008 servers and if I use the iSCSI Initiator and use the function fast connect with the IP of FreeNAS I won't get a connection. There is always the error message "Error while connecting.".

Has someone an idea what could go wrong?

Thanks for you help.

But it works if you don't use whatever "fast connect" is?

Have you turned on the service? Are there log messages? Enabling logging in the GUI is very helpful to catch common mistakes.

With this tip I found the problem after a long search: The logical unit had no auth group so there was always an error while starting the service.

I've noted in the past that setting up iSCSI isn't necessarily straightforward. I'm pretty sure some griping about it is even in a bug report. Sorry you got tripped up.
