While I love the nightly security e-mails but is there a way for it to simply zip it with a password so it's encrypted?

It details alot about my hardware that I don't want the outside world to know about. So is there a cron job I can modify to include additional steps?

Other than that it's a great NAS software!

You'd have to edit the script(not sure which one it is) that runs to make it do what you want. It's not something I condone, support, or even want to take the time to figure out. I will say it is absolutely possible if you are good with scripting/python.

Ok cool. Thanks for the heads up. I will do some research and see if I can write the script. If it works I will go ahead and share it. Maybe somebody can write a GUI for it. I think it's important the sensitive information is protected and not give hackers any advantage.

I have written scripts to do something like this but in Windows 2008 servers (ok so curse me!..lol) so figured I might be able to do something similar in FreeBSD.

Well, to be honest, 9.2.1 gets rid of the nightly emails. It only emails you if something is wrong. So I consider the concern already resolved. :)
