Hi everyone, I'm new to trunas.
At the moment I'm using an old 1 disk synology that was used for photo storage and that's it, over time you know the needs change and I would like to improve the performance with a self-built nas since I have old pc unused. At the moment a motherboard with i3 - 8gb of ram and 2x4 tb nas drive, 1x2 tb disk and 1x120 ssd (for OS).
I would like to keep, at least, part of the functionality I have on dsm and I want to understand from who uses it if there are counterparts in trunas.
Applications currently in use on synology
- backup of the nas on gdrive space (mainly of the photos I take), at the moment there is a function that allows me to connect dms to google drive and from here choose which folders to keep synchronized and how (unidirectional or bidirectional)
- transmission or similar (torrent) manageable remotely
- use of ddns to be able to access from outside the home and manage downloads or other
- ability to browse through folders and start anything (for example by connecting with a tablet) and then be able to see photos, videos etc. like windows explorer
- possibility of having a media center (I think I saw the presence of plex, are there others too?), at the moment I was using the integrated one of synology dsvideo
- virtualization app to create any virtual machines as needed
another thing I saw that there are various formats of raid, currently having 2 disks of 4 tb and 1 disk of 2tb (keeping ssd for the system) how is it convenient to configure the disks?
