Well, it does work, as I'm sitting here at work on my S7 Edge and browsing my media catalogue.
It just isn't working with Chromecast...
And last week, it worked fine. I didn't edit and files or configure any jails.
I'll SSH into the jail and add a name server...
As far as jail settings, and recently adding IPv4 gateway, all I did with my jails is add and mount folder locations.
After all of this, I'm hoping whatever broke my Chromecast functionallity will be fixed with this latest update!
This isn't the 1st time I've had this very same exact issue. Maybe it's simply a matter of network setting within the jail? Though I can't see how DNS would help as CC exists basically only on my LAN (apart from background pics and weather updates!)
Perhaps you don't understand how the Chromecast works.
When you cast something to it, the process is not entirely local. The Chromecast takes over for the stream, and does not require your device (phone/tablet/laptop/desktop) to continue running it. One of the steps it does is connect to the plex.tv and proxy a connection back to a local server. It is a weird setup, but it works well, and doesn't actually stream the data out of the network and back in, but it does need to verify your plex is available.
Interesting...
I'm still able to "handshake" the Chromecast thru my network using PMS, as the splash screen comes up and the circle icon spins...but that's ALL it does.
Sounds as if it's waiting for an ack back from the Chromecast or something....
Opened resolv.conf....
it has my router address listed as nameserver...192.168.1.1
still cant resolve IP from inside jail
apparently a router issue, as 8.8.8.8 works
in business...
except freenas is reporting plex version -1.1.4.2757 still...the verson i had
the updater.sh points to https://plex.tv/api/downloads/1.json
when you open that, and search for the freeBSD version, it lists
version":"1.2.6.2975-9394c87
