Hello,

I used Nas4Free and FreeNAS (old and new ones) since a long time.
Love ZFS and tried Solaris, FreeBSD, ZFSGuru, openindiana, nappit and ZFS on linux.

For home or job use (Truenas), nothing better than Freenas today: just set and forget!

My old home server (NAS + VM) need to be replaced (6x2 To HDD, core i3, 16 Go RAM, LSI 9300-8i) for heavy transcoding and VM use (PCHC, download and GED server).
I'm looking for a Xeon D 1520 and above, to maximise multithread, with a lot of RAM.
Hypervisor (ESXI, KVM, QEMU?) on an old 64 Go SSD raid 1, FreeNAS and other VM (Windows server 2012 R2, Win 7 and CentOs 7) on an old 240 Go SSD RAID 1, 1 RAID Z3 with HGST 4 or 5 To NAS drives (to buy).

A quite exciting project.

Pleased, after a long time "spent" to read this forum, to participate today.
Thanks.
