I recently added 2 500gb drives to my Freenas server and when I look at the drive list nether of them are detected and I cannot made a new pool. I am running version 11.2 on a HP Proliant DL380 G5. When I insert them while it is running it does detect that a hot plug drive has been detected but is does not display them as storage devices. I have rebooted, tried reformatting the drives to NTFS, and tried different ports.

To clarify: which version of FreeNAS (eg 11.2-U7?)
Do you already have an existing pool or is this the first time creating one?

The server is running version 11.2-U7. I do already have a drive pool with a single 72gb sas drive.

hello
HP Proliant DL380 G5
Yours drive is use with integrated RAID controller ?
If that is the situation (not recomanded by anyone ) you must set every drive in RAID controller as a single RAID 0 device

Ok thank you Dan, your solution worked. I had to set them up as virtual drives in the BIOS for freenas to detect them.
