Hi,
I have been playing with freenas v9 and come up wit a few issues - which I resolve after reading some posts, around storage using adpatec cards (5805 and 3805), after re-configuring them and creating volumes for each disk it finally worked.
This is a new system not in production as yet, so I am laying around with different scenarios and practicing replacing disk and adding in new vdev's to s zpool.
I have few questions.
Question 1:
I have 10 - 3tb drive (in a raidz2), 4 - 2tb in a raidz2 and 1 - 1tb drive.
I was think of making the 1tb drive a L2ARC or should it be a ZIL?
Question 2:
If create zpool with the 10 3tb drives, and latter try to add the 4 2tb drive it does not let me, giving me an error.
Can this be done or do the vdev's need to be the same configuration?
Question 3:
I have an Intel pro/1000 PT quad port nic, but freenas does not recognize it, can canyon help with this?
I also have a Intel pro/1000 PT dual port nic, and they work fine, also the onbard nic's are working as well, no issues with them.
I would like to use the quad port rather then 2 dual ports and this saves on pci slots.
Thank you in advance
George.
